I've been going here since retiring from US Army Active Duty in 2003. I give them a four star rating because since going here I've had great doctors and not so great doctors. I was going to mental health 2-3 times a week when it got suddenly cut to once every six months due to staff shortages. Some of the staff here ( the vast majority) are caring compassionate and actually truly care about veterans. Some however shouldn't be employed because they are seemingly unconcerned with you or your medical issues and seem to only do the minimum to get a paycheck. I think you will find the same problems with any medical facility. My biggest pet peeve is when someone goes around bragging how they get a ton of money for traveling here from another city or state. They just never change their primary care doctor and move away then get paid a nice chunk of change whenever they come to Augusta. I fully understand if its for a specialty clinic like the spinal section but the people in talking about are only coming here for labs or just to see their PCM instead of going to the VA Hospital near their new permanent address. I recently sat next to a vet at the pharmac y who was from North Carolina bragging to everyone around that he made over $500 plus every time he came to Augusta for his physical therapy and he drove down here at least 4 times a month. He said all his friends live here and he gets away from his horrible wife for a couple of days. He said the VA Hospital in NC was ranked among the best but he would only get around $10 in travel pay plus not be able to get a break from the wife if he went there. The only reason this posses me off is because unbeknownst to him I couldn't have a much needed knee procedure due to people like him over booking our local appointment system. Also if the guy has a good thing going why broadcast it to the world. Sorry everyone but I've heard about this from lots of other people and it just suck s when it starts to affect my medical issues due to lack of appointments at my VA. This Hospital is better than a lot of them so consider yourself luck if you are living in this area.

This hospital is horrible. I went in for thoughts of harming myself and I wasn’t seen for 16 hours. I eventually left because I wasn’t seen. While I was there an older lady she had to have been about 65-70 years old her arm was broken and they said they had been there 17 hours before they were seen. This hospital may look nice but it’s anything but. Nobody does their job and the staff is completely rude. I hope this hospital closes down from their lack or compassion for patients. I literally asked a doctor when I had been there for 12 hours whats a estimated wait time because the ER was basically empty. He literally said you’ve only been here 12 hours. Yeah this place is literally trash! DO NOT I repeat DO NOT COME HERE!
This is the worst excuse of a hospital I have ever been to in my life. EVER. Save yourself the time and go somewhere else. I had such a poor experience that I tried to file a suit. Was told that they will just bury me in paperwork and bleed my bank dry before anything ( which would ultimately be nothing ) happened. I don't know how they are still open for practice. Such a joke. Truly, if you care about your health, go elsewhere.
The Doctors are good but the wait time is terrible. All my info is here and i trust the staff but it need to be a better intake on patients. I am having heart issue right now and they push me off in a corner. Who do i speak to i am not being rude but i feel like if i go off and act crazy ill be in a room 9hrs it is now
